Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert – MCSE Private Cloud

MCSEThe MCSE Private Cloud certification proves your knowledge about building a private cloud solution with Windows Server 2008 and System Center 2012.

Microsoft has reinvented their certification system. At this moment we can achieve four different MCSE – Microsoft Certified Solution Expert titles – MCSE SQL Server 2012, MCSE Desktop Infrastructure, MCSE Server Infrastructure and MCSE Private Cloud.

To become a MCSE Private Cloud, you must first achieve the MCSA Windows Server 2008 certification. We do not cover this step here. If you want to become a MCSA Windows Server 2008 – start here.

What Exams You Must Pass to Become a MCSE – Private Cloud

The process of becoming a MCSE Private Cloud isn’t easy:

  1. Become a Microsoft Certified Solution Associate – MCSA Windows Server 2008
  2. Pass the 70-247 exam – Configuring and Deploying a Private Cloud with System Center 2012
  3. Pass the 70-246 exam – Monitoring and Operating a Private Cloud with System Center 2012

If you have already the MCITP: Enterprise Administrator or MCITP: Server Administrator certifications, Microsoft will grant you the MCSA Windows Server 2008 certification. In other words, you need only to pass 2 exams to achieve the MCSE Private Cloud certification.

Note: Until January 31, 2013, you can take the 70-659 TS: Windows Server 2008 R2, Server Virtualization exam in place of 70-247.

Format of the MCSE Private Cloud Exam

All the exams are standard, computer-based tests. You must answer 45-60 questions and you have more than 100 minutes for that. You can find single and multiple choice questions. Additionally, flash-based simulations.

Where You Can Pass the MCSE Private Cloud Exams

You can pass both exams (70-247 + 70-246 or 70-659 + 70-246) in the nearest Prometric examination center.

How Much Do the MCSE Private Cloud Exams Cost

Each of the exams cost $100 or $150.

How To Renew your MCSE Private Cloud Certification

The Private Cloud certification requires candidates to show continued ability to perform in this technology area by completing a recertification exam every three years.

A: If you have a valid MCITP Enterprise Administrator or Server Administrator certification, you are MCSA Windows Server 2008 (new system from Microsoft). In this case, you must pass two exams and you will become a MCSE Private Cloud.

Those who have achieved MCITP: EA and SA have been granted the additional title MCSA:WS2008. We did not change the MCITP certification titles on transcripts.
