Oracle Solaris System Administrator – OCA

by Mirek Burnejko

Solaris System AdministratorOracle Solaris System Administrator – OCA is a certification from the Oracle portfolio that covers administration of Oracle Solaris 11 Operating System.

Oracle after acquiring SUN with their main operating system SUN Solaris, started reconfiguration of the Solaris certification track. Oracle adds standard levels: OCA – Associate, OCP – Professional and OCM – Master.

The actual version of the Oracle Solaris System Administrator – OCA certification is based on Oracle Solaris 11. Although, version 10 is still active, we cover the newest version of the operating system and the certification – Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris System Administrator 11.

  • Abhishek

Yes, nice topic… but what about the candidates who are not having too much knowledge about the UNIX, as like me.

    • ICM

      Good point Abhishek.
When I was starting my journey with Solaris, I was using the Sun Certified System Administrator for Solaris 10 Study Guide book and LinuxCBT for Solaris 10. They will guide you from the beginning (filesystem, installation, shell) and move you to more advanced topics like file shares, networking, ZFS.
Just buy a book or LinuxCBT and install Solaris 10 or 11 on a virtual machine.
